Training of community facilitator’s multifamily healing spaces

During the implementation phase of the Interpeace/SIDA Programme, the following activities were undertaken over the month of October, 2022: Training of community facilitator’s multifamily healing spaces, Preparation of the activity of Provision of specialized vocational skills training in prisons, Training of Trainers on conflict resolution and Mediation technics, 24th Conference of International correction and Prison Association (ICPA).

Since October, 10th to 14th 2022, DiDe in partnership with Interpeace, Prison Fellowship Rwanda and Haguruka, co-implemented a 5 days training of 40 community facilitators of Multifamily healing spaces in Musanze-Nyabihu and Nyagatare- Ngoma Disrticts.
The objectives of the Multifamily Training were:
* To reinforce mental health and trauma healing in Rwanda as well as
social cohesion through the scaling up of evidence-led community-
based healing and development methods.
* To integrate Community based methods for addressing past wounds
and promoting social cohesion into mental health and prisoner
reintegration process.
* To increase Collective healing and socio-economic development
activities towards social cohesion in targets communities;
*To provide youth with the skills and spaces to manage past trauma
and develop a shared understanding for building a peaceful and
inclusive future.

The training balanced didactic and experiential technics, participants had the opportunity to take part in experiential exercises and practice them with each other. Thanks to this method a significant proportion of learning comes through group interactions.

2. Training on trainer for Mediation

Since 19th-21st, DiDe Staff together with the staff of other Implementing Partners of Interpeace attended a 3 days training of trainer’s session on mediation which took place at Grand Legacy Hotel.

The overall objective of the training was to provide the program staff with insights and skills needed to facilitate similar training for local actors at community level and to discover mediation techniques and understand the mediation process and learn how to engage the mediator to help disputants reach their own voluntary solution to the conflict.

During this training the following topic were discussed: The first section included different forms and levels of conflicts that can be handled in Mediation (Understanding of Mediation, mediation technics, how to conduct a mediation session, a good mediator, Principles of mediation), the second section was about Gender and Gender based violence.
